My New Favorite Brand
Date: February 18, 2017
I previously tried the Sweet Orchid variety of Puna Noni shampoo and thought I'd also try the coconut variety. This one is just as good. As a person who is allergic to the common lathering agent, cocamidopropyl betaine and other coconut-derived lathering agents, I was initially nervous about trying this brand because it relies on coconut oil for lathering. However, it seems that straight coconut oil does not cause me to break out and itch. So many shampoos out there are 99% natural with the 1% being the one ingredient that I can't use. This shampoo is one of the few on the market that is truly all natural (unless you count the "coconut scented oil" in the ingredient list which I'm not sure about).
This shampoo is thinner than the Sweet Orchid variety, but that doesn't seem to matter. This brand lathers not in big bubbles but in a gentle foam. The trick to getting your hair clean with all-natural shampoo is to continue massaging it into your hair for at least 2 minutes (consider it a part of your morning arm workout). There's no need to repeat with a second round of shampoo when you've lathered it up for 2 minutes.
As for the scent, it smells like a fresh coconut. If you're not a fan of coconut scent, you can follow up the shampoo with a different scent of conditioner.
I'm thrilled to have found this brand. It really is amazing.
